For the last two years, PAWS has held a vaccine clinic the first Saturday of each month at 520 Giuffrida Avenue, San Jose (Springdale Kennels) from 3 to 5 pm. Now they are expanding and, starting in November, PAWS will also hold a vaccine clinic at San Jose Animal Care Center the first Saturday of each month from 9 am to 11 am. The clinics will be offering low cost vaccines for dogs and cats, heartworm test for dogs, feline leukemia test for cats, microchips, flea and tick products, heartworm preventive medication for dogs and DNA testing in dogs. With DNA testing, a sample of your dog’s DNA is taken with a cheek swab (like in CSI) and sent to a laboratory that compares your dog’s DNA against 190 breeds and determines which breeds best match your dog. A report that shows the top three breeds that are the closest match to your dog is sent via e-mail. Normally this test cost $75 to $120, but PAWS Vaccine Clinic does it for $65. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome as long as there are test kits available. To make an appointment contact us at: 877-729-7475 or pawsvaccineclinic@gmail.com. As a thank you for using PAWS’ clinic for your pet’s needs, we are offering at the November, December and January vaccine clinic a free treatment of an Advantage product applied to any dog or cat that comes to the vaccine clinics. For the clinic price list, see page 7. Proceeds from the two vaccine clinics allow PAWS to continue their work to decrease euthanasia at the San Jose Animal Care Center and to get more animals in their forever home. Your support allows PAWS to provide toys and treats for the dogs, toys and scratchers for the cats, new food bowls for the rabbits, and dens for the feral cats to sleep in. These special treats help make the stay at the shelter a little better for the animals as they wait for adoption. As always, we thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you and your pets at our clinics
